How frequently do you encounter a space where you're actively invited and challenged to envision the future you desire?<\/span><\/p>\n

Le <\/span>laboratoire \"Rooted and Rising\"<\/span><\/a><\/span> is a program that intends to create a space for intergenerational community networks to do just that. It's a hub where students from diverse backgrounds, spanning artists to activists, converge to radically reimagine climate education and the trajectory of our world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

La gen\u00e8se de cette initiative remonte au Conscious Minds Camp & Co-op, un camp d'\u00e9t\u00e9 dirig\u00e9 par des jeunes dans la r\u00e9gion du Grand Toronto* et cofond\u00e9 par Kristen et Roxy. Les jeunes y sont encourag\u00e9s \u00e0 explorer des th\u00e8mes tels que la d\u00e9colonisation, le changement climatique, la vie holistique et les droits de l'homme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

En r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 une vague de jeunes leaders climatiques aspirant \u00e0 des espaces d'apprentissage coop\u00e9ratifs, Roxy a r\u00e9orient\u00e9 ses efforts en 2019 vers la cr\u00e9ation du Rooted and Rising Lab (laboratoire d'enracinement et d'ascension). Faisant \u00e9quipe avec Bella et Kristen, aux c\u00f4t\u00e9s de huit autres personnes d\u00e9vou\u00e9es, elles se sont lanc\u00e9es dans la conception d'un programme ancr\u00e9 \u00e0 la fois dans l'\u00e9ducation acad\u00e9mique et non acad\u00e9mique, avec la communaut\u00e9 et l'\u00e9tablissement de relations \u00e0 son c\u0153ur. En adoptant diverses perspectives et en faisant appel \u00e0 des experts en mati\u00e8re de justice climatique, ils ont cr\u00e9\u00e9 un espace d'apprentissage interg\u00e9n\u00e9rationnel dirig\u00e9 par les participants.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ils ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de fournir aux jeunes les conseils d'\u00e9ducateurs et d'anciens, cr\u00e9ant ainsi un espace d'apprentissage interg\u00e9n\u00e9rationnel. Cependant, l'espace serait dirig\u00e9 par les participants pour poser des questions et discuter des solutions avec leurs pairs confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des d\u00e9fis et dilemmes similaires dans leur voyage vers des solutions climatiques de premier plan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Le programme pilote, lanc\u00e9 \u00e0 l'automne 2020, a r\u00e9uni 22 participants \u00e2g\u00e9s de 13 \u00e0 30 ans pendant 10 semaines de sessions virtuelles. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un apprentissage introspectif et \u00e0 des approches pratiques bas\u00e9es sur des projets, les participants ont approfondi des sujets tels que le leadership, la solidarit\u00e9 et l'apprentissage d\u00e9colonis\u00e9, aboutissant \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation de sept projets impactants financ\u00e9s avec l'aide de la <\/span>La Bourse d'action Jeunesse Havre<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

La bourse du Havre Jeunesse a \u00e9galement permis de financer les honoraires des enseignants de Rooted and Rising et d'autres co\u00fbts li\u00e9s aux activit\u00e9s du programme, comme la visite de la ville de Toronto pour enseigner l'agriculture r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ratrice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cependant, le maintien du programme pose des difficult\u00e9s, notamment pour obtenir un financement r\u00e9gulier et consacrer suffisamment de temps \u00e0 l'exploration en profondeur.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bella, qui aide \u00e0 animer et \u00e0 coordonner le programme, a not\u00e9 qu <\/span>\"ils ont besoin de plus de temps pour explorer et approfondir, pour avoir un dialogue plus long sur certains sujets\".<\/span><\/i> Ils discutent de la mani\u00e8re de rendre cela possible, que ce soit par le biais de programmes plus intensifs ou d'un plus grand nombre de sessions. Ils souhaitent \u00e9galement mettre en place davantage de projets terrestres.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participant feedback echoes the sentiment of the Lab being a safe haven for self-reflection and growth, with many expressing newfound understanding of their leadership roles and ancestral connections. Kristen notes the emergence of wisdom and expertise within the cohort, underscoring the program's ability to cultivate a supportive community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Il a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 soulign\u00e9 que la cohorte de cette ann\u00e9e \u00e9tait vraiment investie dans ses projets, certains d'entre eux cr\u00e9ant des projets \u00e0 partir d'une relation avec les autres \u00e0 l'int\u00e9rieur et \u00e0 l'ext\u00e9rieur du projet.<\/span> Par exemple, le projet d'une \u00e9tudiante reliait son travail \u00e0 une organisation de soins de sant\u00e9 reproductive pour les personnes transgenres et non-conformes au genre.<\/span>\"Cela confirme l'id\u00e9e de compl\u00e9ter ce que les jeunes font d\u00e9j\u00e0 avec les connaissances et les conseils fournis par Rooted and Rising\", <\/span><\/i>a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Bella.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The first of three blog posts sharing Kat\u2019s (Executive Director) and Jess\u2019 (Program Director) experience and reflections at the People\u2019s March, and what it was like being with over 75,000 people on the ground, advocating for climate action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
