Le Havre Jeunesse croit au pouvoir et \u00e0 l'innovation des jeunes qui luttent contre la crise climatique. Les jeunes militants d'aujourd'hui sont inform\u00e9s, r\u00e9silients et tr\u00e8s motiv\u00e9s, mais nous devons \u00e9galement reconna\u00eetre le ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne croissant de l'anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 climatique qui affecte les acteurs actuels et futurs du changement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

L'anxi\u00e9t\u00e9 climatique, ou \u00e9co-anxi\u00e9t\u00e9, est la d\u00e9tresse chronique ou la peur d'une \"catastrophe environnementale\" due \u00e0 la crise climatique. Lorsque les trois quarts des jeunes Canadiens affirment que le changement climatique a des r\u00e9percussions n\u00e9gatives sur leur sant\u00e9 mentale, il est clair que la crise climatique ne nuit pas seulement \u00e0 la plan\u00e8te. Si les r\u00e9actions \u00e9motionnelles peuvent parfois encourager l'action, la peur peut souvent conduire \u00e0 la paralysie, \u00e0 l'apathie et \u00e0 des cons\u00e9quences plus graves sur le bien-\u00eatre mental et \u00e9motionnel.<\/span><\/p>\n

Break The Divide est une organisation de jeunes qui comprend tr\u00e8s bien les \u00e9motions difficiles qui accompagnent la crise climatique. Oui, l'\u00e9puisement professionnel est un probl\u00e8me r\u00e9pandu dans le mouvement climatique, mais BTD sait que les impacts \u00e9motionnels du changement climatique peuvent \u00e9galement emp\u00eacher les jeunes de s'y engager. Qu'elles proviennent d'un pessimisme quant \u00e0 la possibilit\u00e9 que les choses changent ou d'un sentiment d'accablement face \u00e0 ce qu'il faut faire, les r\u00e9actions de peur face au changement climatique se manifestent le plus souvent par un sentiment d'apathie. En tant que jeunes, les membres de BTD comprennent cette apathie, mais ils savent aussi comment la surmonter.<\/span><\/p>\n

Break The Divide s'efforce d'aider les jeunes \u00e0 surmonter ces \u00e9motions paralysantes gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un nouveau cadre : de l'apathie \u00e0 l'empathie et \u00e0 l'action. L'id\u00e9e sous-jacente est que lorsque les jeunes ont la possibilit\u00e9 d'\u00e9changer avec d'autres sur la crise climatique, l'empathie qu'ils d\u00e9veloppent leur permet de surmonter leurs \u00e9motions dans un espace s\u00fbr et, en fin de compte, de se doter des outils dont ils ont besoin pour passer \u00e0 l'action. Le travail a \u00e9t\u00e9 inspir\u00e9 par le voyage du fondateur et directeur ex\u00e9cutif Abhay Singh Sachal, de sa ville natale de Surrey, en Colombie-Britannique, jusqu'\u00e0 l'Arctique canadien. Le fait d'\u00e9changer avec d'autres jeunes sur leurs exp\u00e9riences communes et vari\u00e9es du changement climatique a montr\u00e9 \u00e0 Abhay comment le pouvoir de l'empathie peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 pour renforcer la r\u00e9silience personnelle et communautaire. Abhay a fond\u00e9 Break The Divide non pas pour affirmer que l'empathie peut \u00e0 elle seule r\u00e9soudre la crise climatique, mais pour montrer comment l'empathie peut construire des syst\u00e8mes de soutien qui permettent une action unie et durable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

BTD s'est efforc\u00e9 de relier les communaut\u00e9s du monde entier et d'encourager ce type de conversations. Avec plus de 25 sections dans 10 pays diff\u00e9rents, les jeunes ont pu analyser leurs propres \u00e9motions face au changement climatique, apprendre comment il affecte les autres et construire un r\u00e9seau mondial de soutien \u00e9motionnel. Cette ann\u00e9e, BTD a \u00e9largi sa mission en adoptant une approche plus structur\u00e9e de son cadre de travail bas\u00e9 sur l'empathie. 2024 marque l'inauguration du programme Climate Emotions, qui se d\u00e9roule dans 14 \u00e9coles secondaires \u00e0 travers ce que l'on appelle actuellement le Canada, et du Climate Skills & Community Building Fellowship, destin\u00e9 aux jeunes nouveaux arrivants \u00e0 Toronto.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gr\u00e2ce au financement de la <\/span>la bourse d'action du Havre Jeunesse<\/span><\/a>, Break The Divide a cr\u00e9\u00e9 le programme Climate Emotions afin d'aider les lyc\u00e9ens \u00e0 g\u00e9rer les \u00e9motions qui ne sont souvent pas abord\u00e9es dans les cours scientifiques sur le changement climatique. Apprendre pourquoi le climat change et comment il affectera les \u00e9l\u00e8ves dans un avenir proche est n\u00e9cessaire, mais sans aucun doute effrayant, et les \u00e9l\u00e8ves m\u00e9ritent d'avoir l'espace n\u00e9cessaire pour parler de ces peurs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le programme Climate Emotions comprend des plans de cours, des guides de discussion, des vid\u00e9os et du mat\u00e9riel p\u00e9dagogique cr\u00e9\u00e9s de toutes pi\u00e8ces par Break The Divide. Les enseignants re\u00e7oivent toutes les ressources dont ils ont besoin pour soutenir les \u00e9l\u00e8ves tout au long du programme, mais ils ne sont pas seuls - BTD a form\u00e9 des animateurs pour aider \u00e0 g\u00e9rer le programme, r\u00e9pondre aux questions et guider les discussions.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>

Les animateurs sont tous des jeunes b\u00e9n\u00e9voles, ce qui fait du programme une v\u00e9ritable exp\u00e9rience d'\u00e9gal \u00e0 \u00e9gal. En tant que jeunes, les animateurs sont en mesure d'approfondir le mat\u00e9riel bas\u00e9 sur l'empathie et de cr\u00e9er un espace s\u00fbr et authentique en interagissant avec les \u00e9l\u00e8ves. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que les animateurs sont encore sur le m\u00eame terrain \u00e9motionnel que les \u00e9l\u00e8ves en ce qui concerne le changement climatique, ils comprennent ce que c'est que d'\u00e9prouver de la peur et du pessimisme, mais ils sont aussi la preuve vivante que les \u00e9l\u00e8ves peuvent surmonter ces sentiments. C'est l\u00e0 l'une des v\u00e9ritables forces du programme Climate Emotions : l'\u00e9ducation bas\u00e9e sur l'empathie est accompagn\u00e9e par un pair qui peut modeler cette m\u00eame empathie avec des liens authentiques. Les volontaires affirment qu'entre le travail avec BTD et l'interaction avec les \u00e9tudiants, il s'agit de l'exp\u00e9rience de volontariat la plus engageante qu'ils aient jamais eue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tout cela s'ajoute \u00e0 l'aspect \"jumelage de classes\" du programme, dans le cadre duquel les classes participantes sont jumel\u00e9es avec une autre classe d'une autre r\u00e9gion de ce qu'on appelle le Canada. En \u00e9cho \u00e0 la propre exp\u00e9rience d'Abhay avec des \u00e9l\u00e8ves de l'Arctique canadien, les \u00e9l\u00e8ves sont en mesure d'entrer en contact avec d'autres personnes dans un contexte totalement diff\u00e9rent. En \u00e9coutant leurs diff\u00e9rences et en se rapprochant de leurs similitudes, les \u00e9l\u00e8ves font l'exp\u00e9rience de l'empathie en action, en plus de leur pilier \u00e9ducatif. Ces liens sont \u00e9galement entretenus par la possibilit\u00e9 d'interagir de mani\u00e8re plus d\u00e9contract\u00e9e avec d'autres \u00e9tudiants gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des serveurs Discord g\u00e9r\u00e9s par des b\u00e9n\u00e9voles de Break The Divide.<\/span><\/p>\n

Break The Divide innove avec son cadre de travail bas\u00e9 sur l'empathie, mais il n'a pas \u00e9t\u00e9 facile de mettre en place une nouvelle approche de l'\u00e9ducation au changement climatique. Le programme Climate Emotions s'est heurt\u00e9 \u00e0 la r\u00e9sistance des administrateurs, \u00e0 des inqui\u00e9tudes quant \u00e0 la r\u00e9action des parents et \u00e0 des difficult\u00e9s d'int\u00e9gration dans les programmes scolaires des lyc\u00e9es. Cependant, BTD tire de nombreux enseignements de la premi\u00e8re phase du programme \"\u00c9motions climatiques\" et reconna\u00eet que si son approche unique est source d'obstacles, elle constitue \u00e9galement sa plus grande force.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le programme Climate Emotions illustre \u00e9galement l'importance et l'impact du soutien apport\u00e9 par les jeunes aux jeunes, depuis le financement initial jusqu'aux relations entre \u00e9tudiants. Financ\u00e9 par Le Havre Jeunesse, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par Break The Divide et propos\u00e9 aux lyc\u00e9ens, le programme Climate Emotions est un projet enti\u00e8rement lat\u00e9ral cr\u00e9\u00e9 par des jeunes, pour des jeunes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 l'avenir, Break The Divide se souviendra de ce moment et de cette premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition du programme Climate Emotions comme du moment o\u00f9 l'organisation a vraiment commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 consolider sa place en tant que pionni\u00e8re dans le domaine de la crise climatique. Apr\u00e8s des ann\u00e9es d'exp\u00e9rience et de pr\u00e9paration, BTD peut enfin mettre sa th\u00e9orie en pratique de mani\u00e8re structur\u00e9e et voir comment son cadre unique \"de l'apathie \u00e0 l'empathie \u00e0 l'action\" se d\u00e9ploie - et l'am\u00e9liorer au fur et \u00e0 mesure qu'il se d\u00e9veloppe. C'est ce qui se passe lorsque les jeunes ont la possibilit\u00e9 et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 d'exp\u00e9rimenter quelque chose d'enti\u00e8rement nouveau - et il n'y a pas de limites \u00e0 la port\u00e9e de cette empathie et de ces programmes.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>
