The Youth Harbour Impact Report

by | Nov 6, 2023 | Reports

The Youth Harbour is excited to share with you our first ever Impact Report since the program’s inception in 2021! The Impact Report highlights The Youth Harbour’s transformative two-year journey in launching a new support system for youth climate activism across so-called Canada.

The Youth Harbour is the flagship project of the Foundation for Environmental Stewardship (FES). At The Youth Harbour, we pool philanthropic funds that we re-grant to youth-led climate movements throughout Canada, because youth are known to be the critical demographic that can foster the political will for climate solutions in Canada. Aside from financial assistance, we offer administrative and technical support to young climate leaders so they can get from starting their work to scaling their work.

Our intended impact is to see that by 2030, the Canadian climate movement will be successfully implementing mitigation and adaptation strategies needed for a climate-resilient and fair Canada through the influence and action of young leaders.

Since 2021, we have:

  • Implemented 4 granting cycles which committed $625,600 across 31 youth-led organizations in 6 different provinces
  • Supported the leveraging of an additional $1.8M to the climate movement
  • Introduced two, in-kind services, Branding Buddy and Climate ShareSpace
  • Organized two side projects including, The Refuge, in partnership with Youth Climate Lab which took place in tandem with COP15, and a youth-friendly session at GLOBE x CHANGE on Demystifying Funding in collaboration with Leading Change
  • Developed various internal and external publications such as our Peer-to-Peer Community Engagement Guide
  • Appeared in several media features and at multiple speaking engagements, amplifying and advocating for youth in the climate movement

We would like to thank all of our donors for your continued support in our mission to create a place of support, convening, and collaboration for the youth-led climate movement. As well, we’d like to extend a big shout out to all of our grantees and program/projects participants. Thank you for doing the climate work that we all need!

We hope this report inspires you to cultivate a resilient, fair, and prosperous future.

Kindest Regards,

The Youth Harbour Team
